UK Junior Mathematical ChallengeYear 7 and 8 students rise to the challenge

On 27th April 2006, 34 Year 7 pupils and 32 Year 8 pupils took part in the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge.

This is a competition run each year by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT), which is based at the University of Leeds. The challenge is run in order to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques in order to solve non-standard problems. It is targeted at the top 30% of pupils in Years 7 and 8. This year, 241612 pupils took part in the challenge, representing almost 4000 schools across the UK.

Certificates are awarded for pupils achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold performance levels, and a special certificate is awarded for the Best Score in each school.

This year, our pupils have been awarded a total of 3 Gold certificates, 6 Silver certificates and 22 Bronze certificates, which is an excellent performance. Many congratulations!
