	Y9 Drama workshop to raise important issuses As part of the Healthy School's Under Control Project, Yew Tree Theatre Company have come to Beckets to develop a performance based around the issues of substance abuse and peer pressure; to be shown to Year 6 on their transition days... 	Y10 learn about the 'Miracle of Life' " I thought the LIFE day was an interesting experience because a lot was learned during the day." In the first session a woman call Eileén Maher, from the LIFE charity in Sheffield, came to St. Austin’s theatre to talk about the miracle of life with Year 10 pupils. She told us about the difference stages in which a baby grows and develops. Wednesday, 6th June 2007

	Treble celebration at Beckets St Thomas à Becket Catholic College held a treble celebration on Friday 26th January to mark the achievement of their Specialist Status in Humanities, the opening of their splendid new teaching block and the feast of St Titus and Timothy and their patron St Thomas à Becket. 29 January 2007

	Poetry for All! ‘Poetry Live, 2006’: A full day of culture, history and personal experiences brought to life by the punchy Anthology poets themselves. On Tuesday 21st November, a group of 62 Year 11 pupils and 3 staff attended the annual ‘Poetry Live’ conference in the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds. 29 November 2006

	Northern Ballet Workshop GCSE Dance students and Gifted and Talented pupils took part in a Northern Ballet Theatre Workshop on the 26th September 2006. The workshop included learning repertoire from their current production of The Three Musketeers which was being performed at the West Yorkshire Play house. 10 October 2006

	New School Building Takes Shape Building of the new extension to St. Thomas à Becket Catholic College is progressing rapidly with the steel structure almost complete. 10 October 2006

	Year 7 and 8 students rise to the challenge On 27th April 2006, 34 Year 7 pupils and 32 Year 8 pupils took part in the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge. May 2006

	Year 10 take an African Safari in Bradford 24 Graphic Design students took a break from their normal timetable to visit the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford. Monday, 13 March 2006

	Beckets Tops Key Stage 4 Achievement and Attainment Tables THE latest Key Stage 4 performance tables released by the DfES on Thursday, 19 January, show St Thomas à Becket Catholic College has one of the best contextual value added figures in Wakefield and has the highest pass rate for the fourth year running using the new A*-C including English and Mathematics indicator.
